The National Assessment of PSN

Fri, Nov 14, 8:00 to 9:20am, Independence Salon G - M4

Abstract

PSN is a multi-faceted program model that encourages evidence-based and data-driven approaches within the key design elements of community engagement, violence prevention and intervention, focused and strategic enforcement, and accountability. The first presentation describes the process of creating a robustness measure to assess the dosage of PSN, in terms of the extent to which the key design elements are implemented, in judicial districts and large cities. The robustness scores paint a picture of the variability in how PSN is implemented nationwide. The presentation also includes findings on the relationship between the robustness of PSN implementation and changes in crime rates, including homicide, robbery, robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, and aggravated assault with a firearm from October 2021 through the end of 2023. Findings are presented both for judicial districts and for 159 large cities where PSN has been implemented.
