The Office on Trafficking in Persons’ National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center uses a public health approach to train professionals on how to identify and effectively respond to the complex needs of individuals, families, and communities put at risk of trafficking. This presentation describes the SOAR approach and focuses on outcomes at the individual-level for the SOAR training program. Since SOAR Online launched in 2018, more than 350,000 modules have been completed by professionals nationwide. This analysis explores a subset of cases to determine satisfaction with training content and delivery, outcomes associated with improvements to knowledge and skills to appropriately identify and respond to individuals experiencing trafficking, and use new knowledge and skills. Results demonstrate consistently high ratings for training usefulness, quality, and satisfaction, as well as significant increases in self-reported knowledge and confidence following the training. Findings from follow up surveys indicate that while many participants remain confident in what they learned, a large proportion are not regularly applying new skills and knowledge at work. This may indicate a need for continued education and advanced trainings to maintain newly attained knowledge and further direction on how to apply new skills.
