By incorporating disposition time into Blumstein (1982)’s original model, we explore a time dimension of racial disproportionality in the criminal process. This is illustrated by examining disposition rate and conviction rate and by using twenty-five years of rap sheet data in Connecticut. It shows a nonuniform pattern of disposition rate and conviction rate over time. The patterns are further decomposed by felony status and offense type. We end by proposing a flow-to-stock approach to interpret the results.
