Building Resilience: Using Data to Create a Center for Gun Violence Survivors in Philadelphia - CANCELLED

Fri, Nov 14, 9:30 to 10:50am, Marquis Salon 12 - M2

Abstract

Resiliency centers provide crucial support for victims of crime by offering a centralized location to access a wide range of services tailored to their needs. These centers are designed to be trauma-informed and culturally responsive, helping victims heal from physical, psychological, and economic impacts. By fostering a supportive community environment, resiliency centers also promote long-term recovery and resilience, empowering victims to rebuild their lives. With funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), ICF conducted a comprehensive needs assessment to better understand how to support survivors of gun violence with the goal of informing the development of a resiliency center in Philadelphia. This center will offer multiple pathways to healing and address the immediate, short-, and long-term impacts of gun violence. In this presentation, we will describe how the needs assessment provided critical insights into the development of the resiliency center.
