Circles of Support and Accountability (COSA) are an evidence-based restorative justice model for aiding individuals convicted of sex offenses in reintegrating into the community by providing needed social support, access to services, and structures for social accountability. While most COSA models center the core member and surrounds them with community volunteers, this model is resource-intensive and difficult to scale up. This research focuses on one COSA program that has reconceptualized the model to determine the capacity and adaptability of providing the support and accountability structures of COSA through a peer-mentor framework. Relying on circle observations, in depth interviews, surveys, and administrative data, we provide evidence for the strengths and areas for improvement of this reimagined restorative justice model.
