Researcher-practitioner collaborations help to translate evidence into practice, leading to improved criminal justice approaches and outcomes for individuals and communities. This paper provides an overview of a multi-site, multi-phase Bureau of Justice Assistance-funded drug court study to demonstrate how these partnerships operate and the essential steps to establish successful collaborations in the field. In doing so, we outline a comprehensive, multi-step process for engaging partners. Additionally, we set the stage for a deeper exploration of findings that will be discussed in the following presentations on the panel.
