This paper analyzes data from a current sports related educational program on Rikers Island to better understand the connection between social and emotional health and the type of offending history (violent or nonviolent) using both survey and secondary data for an analysis of variance across intake offense categories. Conclusions are summarized alongside recommendations for greater inclusion of social and emotional health variables in an integrated understanding of crime and recommendations for treatment.
