Extant research has begun to explore the consequences of gentrification for communities, but evidence is limited and findings on the gentrification-crime link are mixed. The current study utilizes a novel approach, including analysis of publicly available data on both social and built environment characteristics of urban spaces, to interrogate the ways in which measurement decisions influence the relationship between gentrification and crime. This study contributes to the growing body of literature aiming to capture a common form of urban change and understand its consequences.
