Abstract

The Global Terrorism Trends and Analysis Center (GTTAC), operated by Development Services Group and the Terrorism, Transnational Crime and Corruption Center at George Mason University, supports the Counterterrorism Bureau of the U.S. Department of State in the collection and analysis of global terrorism incidents and trends. In this paper, we present the major recent trends in Global Terrorism, including the conflagration of violence in the Middle East with Iranian-backed groups, the escalating instability in Pakistan, the emerging tactics and methods as well as their efficiency, and the troubling situation in the Sahel, East Africa, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
