Innovation, Access, and Student-Centered Reform in Criminal Justice Education

Wed, Nov 12, 8:00 to 9:20am, Independence Salon F - M4

Abstract

This presentation critically examines pedagogical innovations within HBCU criminal justice programs designed to enhance student access, persistence, and academic success. It provides an analytical framework for implementing and evaluating HyFlex course delivery models and open educational resources to expand educational opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate students. Drawing on extensive administrative leadership experience and curriculum reform initiatives, the presentation offers empirical insights into program expansion strategies, technology integration methodologies, and inclusive teaching practices. The analysis provides a replicable model demonstrating how HBCUs can remain responsive to evolving student needs while preserving their distinctive institutional mission and educational philosophy.
