Wed, Nov 12, 12:30 to 1:50pm, Independence Salon A-E - M4

Abstract

No country in the world has made greater sacrifices in the global battle against drug trafficking, facing evolving threats from transnational criminal organizations that now engage in human trafficking and arms smuggling than Colombia. Alongside the United States, Colombia is determined to eradicate drug trafficking and dismantle criminal networks. Colombia is prepared to confront challenges, adapt to new threats, and refine our strategies in this partnership. Colombia has shown steadfast resolve by dismantling cartels, eradicating coca crops, providing economic alternative for farmers, and executing coordinated interdiction operations. Our latest achievement involves community engagement in eradicating coca production, demonstrating their commitment to the rule of law, and distancing themselves from illegal groups and economies. Strengthening the bilateral alliance is essential for enhancing security, fostering prosperity, and ensuring long-term stability for both nations and the region. Colombia is ready and willing to work with the U.S. administration in contributing to achieve its new objectives.
