Core correctional practices have been transformed into manualized training programs to support probation officer use of evidence based practices. This presentation will examine how probation officer use of a manualized training program, specifically Effective Practices in Community Supervision (EPICS), impacted offender recidivism one-year post probation completion. The research includes analysis on probation officer use of EPICS and specific core correctional practices utilized during sessions in a single Midwestern state. Findings and policy recommendations will be discussed.
