Transforming Pain into Power: Rehabilitation for Trafficking Victims

Wed, Nov 12, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Liberty Salon N - M4

Abstract

This paper aims to address the pressing issue of human trafficking and the challenges faced by survivors during their reintegration into society. The primary purpose of the research is to look at the effectiveness of rehabilitation and reintegration programs in supporting these individuals and to find the obstacles some encounter, such as social stigmas, psychological trauma, and barriers to accessing essential resources. Major findings show that a significant percentage of survivors continue to experience mental health issues such as depression and PTSD, as well as barriers linked to employment and educational opportunities. Furthermore, community engagement is important in fostering supportive environments for survivors. While existing programs provide vital support, there is a need for improved strategies that focus on community awareness and collaboration to improve reintegration outcomes. By showing successful practices and areas for improvement, the outlook is to inform policymakers and organizations about the practical approaches to assist trafficking survivors in reclaiming their lives and rights within the community.
