Global Trends in Human Trafficking: A Qualitative Analysis of Case Laws (2013–2023)

Fri, Nov 14, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Cherry Blossom - Second Floor

Abstract

Human trafficking is a global menace, and millions of young girls, boys, women, and men have been victims of various forms of trafficking. The crime has no geographical boundaries, and the victims often experience physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, creating a global health and security threat. According to the SHERLOC database, several occurrences of human trafficking were registered highlighting ongoing difficulty in addressing this crime. So, this study looks at cases that were filed between 2013 and 2023. A qualitative content analysis of human trafficking case records was reviewed to understand (1) legal system variations, (2) demographic factors, and (3) judicial trends. The study underscores the necessity for consistent policy implementation and stronger transnational collaboration to address the evolving nature of trafficking in persons.
