AltAc: Comparing AltAc and University Work

Abstract

Through discussion with Rockstar’s over the course of AltAc sessions we know that there is a high degree of skill and other overlap between traditional university-based tenure track positions and research-intensive AltAc positions. We have also learned that things like project deliverables, timelines, and project audience/stakeholders can be different when scholars work in AltAc settings – as is the impact potential of that work! Given the speakers unique positionality across various working spaces, this discussion will focus on the possible impact of research-intensive work in AltAc settings as well as provide discussion around the possibility of making the same impact in the traditional university setting.
