It is the mission of the Cyberagentur to contract disruptive research projects in the field of cybersecurity and related key technologies with a future horizon of 5 to 15 years.
The sub-department ‘Cyber-resilient Society’ focuses on the human factor in cybercrime and cybersecurity as well as on disinformation. Its goal is to understand cybercrime not only from a merely technical point of view but also to engage with criminology, ethics, law, sociology, psychology, and other interdisciplinary fields aiming to strengthen criminological cybersecurity research. This is accomplished by identifying novel scientific research fields, developing calls for proposals and supporting networks.
A recent tender of the sub-department focuses on the future of cybercrime by identifying patterns to forecast national and cross-border developments in the field of cybercrime. Another tender aims to quantify harm caused by cybercrime while not only focusing on financial harm but also taking psychological and social aspects into account. During a finished program, a concept paper regarding trust architectures for media content was developed. Furthermore, there are several upcoming programs, such as a program regarding the strengthening of cyber resilience and cyber vigilance through digital competence as well as a program related to disinformation in the metaverse.
