Environmental crime has a devastating impact on the environment. Studies have shown that corruption plays a role in facilitating environmental crimes. Previous scholarly literature has revealed that there are four stages of environmental crime and corruption convergence: 1) acquiring access; 2) extraction; 3) transport; and 4) consumption and disposal. Situational crime prevention highlights techniques that can be applied to intervene and interrupt the intersection of environmental crime and corruption. The application of situational crime prevention to the four stages of environmental crime and convergence are outlined for feasible adaptation and implementation to disrupt the facilitating mechanisms to such devastating criminal activity. Recommendations for future research are provided.
