How can we make the DLC knowledge base more accessible and relevant to policy and practice?

Wed, Nov 12, 2:00 to 3:20pm, Shaw - M3

Abstract

The theoretical contributions of DLC research are notable but this body of work is yet to realize its full potential in terms of impact on criminal justice policy and practice, both domestically and globally. The role of DLC research in shaping jurisprudence and social policies can be potentially significant but remains limited. This is partly because our research is less accessible outside of academic circles. There are also inherent challenges to translating research language for non-academic audiences, including practitioners, policymakers, and decisionmakers. This short presentation highlights some key points that warrant more attention and discussion among DLC researchers in order to broaden the impact of our scholarly work.
