Navigating The Risks: Digital Safety and Security for Feminist Instructors and Students in Contemporary Times

Abstract

Digital security and safety are critical, especially during our current climate. Instructors and students are becoming targets of different forms of violence, including online harassment, doxxing, and targeted harassment for their views and even what they are choosing to study or research. Being a feminist scholar at any level opens you up to unique harms that require unique and innovative ways of harm reduction. In this talk, I seek to discuss how instructors and students can protect themselves from these inevitable harms and call attention to the lack of protections for feminist researchers and learners from their institutions.
