Abstract

Senior Research Criminologist, RTI, will describe findings from an NIJ-funded evaluation of PSN with a focus on firearm violence intervention —particularly methodology, evaluation readiness, and lessons learned from large-scale national evaluation. The presentation will follow with a discussion on how NIJ’s research funding has supported innovative strategies for preventing and investigating firearm-related crime, emphasizing the research-to-practice translation process and lessons from PSN. In addition, a former-PSN coordinator will offer real-world perspectives on implementing strategies in a community setting, including what works on the ground, challenges faced, and how federal research and funding can better support local priorities.
