Poster #102 - Exposing Students to the Trustworthiness of AI tools in Criminal Justice

Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools across multiple disciplines is growing rapidly. In this project, criminal justice students were introduced to two specific AI applications used in criminal justice today: facial recognition software and gunshot detection sensors. Through group-based discussions and the utilization of ChatGPT, students highlighted the advantages, disadvantages, capabilities, and limitations of using such tools to assist criminal justice efforts. Findings are discussed.
