Dr. Smith, an Afro-Latina scholar and former departmental chair, addresses the compounded challenges faced when one must restart an academic career following the closure of an institution. She will speak to the frustrations of repeatedly needing to prove oneself and how navigating this cycle can be emotionally and professionally taxing, particularly for Black women.
