Colorblind ideology poses that individuals who deny, downplay and/or avoid racism often engage in similar behaviors - including laughter. These colorblind behaviors in conversation signal extreme discomfort with a topic. However, few qualitative studies collect, code, and focus on this type of data. This project seeks to fill this gap in the literature by examining original video data from 100 virtual interviews with students majoring in fields related to Criminology across the United States. We discuss how data were collected, analyzed, preliminary findings and future implications for research and practice.
