Poster #124 - Immigration and Human Rights Violations - CANCELLED

Thu, Nov 13, 7:30 to 8:30pm, Marquis Salon 5 - M2

Abstract

We will be presenting on immigration and human rights violations within the United States through a content analysis. This project aims to examine the ways in which policy has shifted in the last decade regarding immigration law, and changes in practice by government agencies. Specifically, we will be conducting a secondary data analysis on the literature for detention facilities, and agreements between local law enforcement and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Lastly, we will include a policy analysis on major immigration law throughout United States history to establish a strong foundation for understanding modern day immigration sentiments in the nation. We will be utilizing a poster format for our presentation where each individual in the group will be speaking on one of the three topics to cultivate a cohesive understanding of this complex topic. The understanding of immigration is crucial in a time of political polarization and the weaponization of immigration policies and migration within the United States.
