Security and Sustainable Development: An Application of EPIC Model to Address Drug Challenges in Local Communities

Abstract

Drug use is a persistent challenge in small communities. How can security and sustainability intersect to address it? The main objective of this lightning talk is to introduce the EPIC (Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities) model as a response framework through university partnerships. This presentation will demonstrate how university partnerships can provide small communities with evidence-based strategies, technical assistance, and capacity-building mechanisms, as well as student engagement, which respond to drug use challenges.
