This collection of papers from the upcoming DCS Handbook on Lived Experience examines many issues in the criminal-legal system using various lenses of “lived experience.” They tackle topics such as death row, peer-led programming, stigma management, and the impacts of incarceration on families. By focusing on learning first-hand from those involved with the system, these papers draw attention to the empirical promise of centering “lived experience” in research.
