Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
The panel discusses three different interventions launched in Philadelphia, PA--converting streetlights to LEDs, cleaning street segments beyond the current city street cleaning efforts, and installing murals in locations around the community. Panelists will describe each of the efforts, what the research tells us about the potential public safety benefits of each, the limitations of each approach, and future directions for piloting and studying these types of interventions. A fourth paper provides a qualitative perspective on the street cleaning and lighting interventions. The chair will discuss the interventions in the context of current local and national city policy.
