Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
Ohio has been one of the most adversely impacted states by opioid epidemic, ranking in the top five for highest overdose death rates in most years between 2014 to 2022. In response, communities across the state developed several multidisciplinary diversion and deflection teams to help people who use drugs get connected to treatment services and other supports. This panel includes several evaluation studies of these efforts. Presenters will discuss team readiness, process, and outcomes across multiple programs in the state in recent years. Successes, challenges, and lessons learned will also be shared, with the goals of informing future research and evaluation and improving the implementation and effectiveness of deflection programs nationwide.
