Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
This panel focuses on three critical aspects of leveraging data to improve the criminal legal system: estimating impacts of reform strategies, monitoring impacts, and addressing racial disparities. Drawing from the work of City University of New York Institute for State and Local Governance (CUNY ISLG), panelists will introduce actionable strategies for how data can guide decisions and ensure that policy adjustments are both effective and equitable, as well as how to leverage data to diagnose and disrupt disparities, allowing jurisdictions to develop targeted approaches to reduce racial inequities. The goal of this session is to provide practical, data-driven methods that can be used to inform policy, adapt strategies, and ultimately, promote a fairer criminal legal system.
