The Bureau of Justice Statistics’ Federal Justice Statistics Program (FJSP) was created in 1982 to serve as a national clearinghouse of federal criminal case processing data. Six federal criminal justice agencies provide data for the FJSP, from arrest through post-conviction supervision. Recently, the Executive Office for Immigration Review contributed data to the FJSP to increase BJS’s ability to explain the federal response to immigration. This presentation focuses on several special topics not regularly explored with these data, including an examination of human trafficking using different data sources, American Indian and Alaska Natives in the federal criminal justice system, and immigration trends with data from federal criminal and immigration courts.
