Ties to peers and family members play important roles in the development of delinquency and involvement with systems of social control. In this panel, we examine three themes that deserve more attention in this area of research: sexual minority peer networks and offending, the role of peer contexts in the consequences of arrest for adolescent health behaviors, and the role of parents in their child’s avoidance of school discipline.
