Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel

Abstract/Description

This panel will explore the intersection of criminology and social responsibility, highlighting the importance of giving back to the communities hosting the American Society of Criminology (ASC) annual conference. Through a series of presentations and discussions, we will reflect on past service projects, outline the current initiative in Washington, DC, and plan for future outreach efforts in Chicago. The panel will include a discussion on the criminalization of our target population, a presentation about a partnering nonprofit organization, and a collaborative planning session for next year’s conference. This panel aims to bridge academia with direct community impact by fostering service and advocacy, demonstrating how criminology can contribute to meaningful social change.
