Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
Case processing inefficiencies – delays in the progression of a case through the criminal legal system, from arrest to resolution – are a significant driver of jail populations, which means that efforts to reduce case processing times can be an incredibly impactful way to address overuse of our nation's jails. The presentations in this thematic panel will provide an overview of the challenges that long case processing timelines can present in efforts to reduce jail populations and what have we learned from research in this area to date.
