Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
This panel is tied to a book in the works (under contract) about the crime and justice dynamics in the state of New Mexico. This panel represents a sampling of the eclectic chapters contained within the larger project.
New Mexico has a fascinating history of crime & delinquency developments and law & order responses. The historiography spans over 150 years, prior to its official status as a U.S. state in 1912. The larger project evaluates popular (mis)conceptions about the state's lawless “Wild West”, bringing the timeline to the present.
