Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
The current panel speaks to international perspectives on correctional officer training and includes training for youth and adult correctional officers. Panelists have hands-on experience in creating and instructing training, in completing training, or evaluating training internationally. The panelists speak to best practices in training -- what works versus appears not to work in terms of adult learning and retention. The goal is to show the variability in training and to start to open the prior "black box" that is correctional officer and youth officer training around the world. The goal is to help inform with evidence ways forward to make prisons safer for all living and working in the spaces.
