Abstract/Description

This session focuses on the challenges and strategies on balancing a family within the academy. How do you negotiate maternity or paternity leave? What issues do you face in balancing the demands of workload and parenting? How do you balance your identity and the role of parenthood while maintaining your academic self? What is work-life balance? Each of the panelists became parents during different stages of our academic careers and will share the challenges we've faced as we've balanced our roles of parenthood and family within our research and teaching demands. This is an inclusive roundtable- both students and faculty are invited to attend.
