Session Submission Type: Lightning Talk Session
The lightning presenters used carceral citizen creativity as data to examine issues within the criminal legal system and offer suggestions for future research based on their findings. Through abductive analysis of creative expressions—ranging from visual art to poetry—crafted by system-impacted individuals, their research uncovers themes of resistance, marginalization, and resilience. By linking these findings to scholarly literature, each presenter identifies gaps in current research and proposes future directions for understanding incarceration through a critical and experience-based perspective.
