Celebrating 50 years of contributions to the fields of criminology, law, and justice, this panel explores the impact of the Committee on Law & Justice (CLAJ) program at the National Academy of Sciences. Panelists will discuss CLAJ’s influence on research, policy, and practice, drawing from landmark reports on mass incarceration, crime statistics, and reducing racial inequality in crime and justice. Looking forward, the panel will discuss emerging challenges and opportunities for science to advance public safety in the next 50 years, considering how CLAJ can continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of these interconnected fields.
