Abstract/Description

The Criminal Justice Administrative Records System (CJARS) Training Workshop aims to educate participants about new research opportunities to study the U.S. criminal justice system and provide participants with hand-on experience using the CJARS database. Topics that will be covered during the training workshop include an overview of the CJARS data infrastructure, available data documentation, data access mechanisms and other data products, examples of research that leverages CJARS, and a hand-on data practicum. Attendees will also be given time during the workshop to actively explore the CJARS database through the Virtual Data Enclave (VDE) and can ask project staff for input and guidance on prospective research projects.
