Session Submission Type: Roundtable Sessions
This roundtable discussion will explore the transformative role of Project Rebound in supporting formerly incarcerated students as they pursue higher education, with a specific focus on the program’s implementation and progress at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Project Rebound, a statewide initiative across the CSU system, provides critical resources and a supportive community for students reentering academic life post-incarceration.
Discussants will look at how CSULB has developed and expanded its Project Rebound program, including partnerships with campus services, community organizations, and advocacy groups. The conversation will address key outcomes, such as retention and graduation rates, as well as the challenges faced in scaling support systems and combating stigma. Additionally, the roundtable will provide space for Project Rebound students, staff, and faculty to share lived experiences, highlight ongoing research engagement, and discuss policy implications for higher education access and equity.
