Session Submission Type: Roundtable Sessions
It is not new that some law enforcement personnel at the local and state levels have had strained relationship with members of the minority groups. This roundtable explores innovative approaches to transforming the narrative surrounding law enforcement and minority communities. Through diverse perspectives, the discussion will address historical mistrust, systemic bias, and media portrayal while highlighting community-led solutions, reform initiatives, and dialogue-based trust-building. Six scholars will offer insights on policy reform, restorative justice, youth engagement, training practices, and public accountability. The goal is to foster mutual understanding, challenge stereotypes, and identify actionable strategies that promote equity, safety, and respect for all stakeholders in public safety and justice.
