Session Submission Type: Roundtable Sessions
This roundtable will convene Black women scholars in criminology and criminal justice to celebrate, affirm, and empower one another. Building upon previous Division on People of Color and Crime (DPCC) dialogues such as “Elevating Our Stories: Narratives of Black and Brown Scholars in Academia” and in collaboration with the Black Criminology Network (BCN), this space intentionally centers the lived realities, research, and resilience of Black women navigating academia amid today’s challenging sociopolitical landscape. Through candid discussion and collective reflection, participants will unpack the dual experiences of invisibility and hypervisibility, share strategies for wellness and resistance, and amplify the strengths inherent in Black womanhood and sisterhood. Ultimately, this session aims to fortify connections, validate shared experiences, and lay foundations for future generations of Black women scholars committed to justice and transformative change.
