The Russian Street in the Holy Land: The Study of Russian-Israeli Literature between 1989-2013

Abstract

My presentation is based on the archival research I have undertaken in the National Library of Israel in the past two summers, during which I catalogued 6586 books published in Israel in the Russian language. I utilize this corpus in order to comprehend the social experiences and concerns of the immigrants who came to Israel after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Special consideration would be given to the cultural, economic, and publishing institutions that are involved in promotion, production, and circulation of that literature in both Israel and Russia.
