Plus Infernalization of the Whole Country: Hyper-Semiotization in 'Kolyma Tales' and around Them

Abstract

While the title of the paper alludes to Lenin’s famous definition of communism as “Soviet Power plus electrification of the whole country,” its content is devoted to Shalamov’s revolutionary principles of prose writing after Kolyma, when the formalist approaches to literature and art of the 1920s were reinvented and situated in a new historical context.
