Official, Professional, and Personal: Finnish-Soviet Artistic Networks in Context

Abstract

This presentation focuses on artists’ networks between Finland and the Soviet Union from the 1960s to early 1980s. In the shadow of cultural diplomacy, artists were able to develop personal and professional networks that stretched ideological and political boundaries. Some of these networks grew into career-long influential collaborations, but also occasionally to ideological disillusionment and crises.
