The Phenomenon of Lugano Lake Artists in the Territories of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania

Tue, November 26, 8:00 to 9:45am, San Francisco Marriott Marquis, Floor: 2, Foothill B

Abstract

Catholic Church and Baroque architecture are important elements of Lithuanian culture and landscape. The architecture of the former lands of the Grand Duchy – modern Lithuania and Belarus – have been significantly influenced by the artists from the Lugano lake shores. These migrants, who traveled and worked through the early modern times, left traces that made an impact on cultural and religious identity through the 19 and the 20th centuries.
