The first of these papers deals with Czechoslovak-French relations following the Prague Spring and particularly about the leader of the exiled reformers Jiří Pelikán and his relationship with the French left. The second of these papers will also focus on the post 1968 period and the politics of culture in exile, the activities of Czechoslovak journalist, Antonín J. Liehm.
The third of these papers deals with Hungarian political parties in exile, specifically with the activities of the Hungarian Christian Democrats and their leadership until the time of their return to their homeland post 1989.
The fourth of these presentations will focus on the period after the fall of the communist governments in 1989 and Václav Havel's reversal of his view of Russia.
