Abstract

Brandon Schechter’s paper showcases a new multi-partner digital archive documenting the Refusenik movement. Situating the movement in the contexts of the Cold War, Human Rights, immigration, and Jewish identity, the Refuseniks and Activists brings together resources and scholarship to present this story to the widest possible audience, from the general public to scholars, and promises to be an important resource for graduate students cut off from archives in Ukraine and Russia. The paper includes a brief tour of the site and a discussion of how it came into being.
