The U.S. model of democracy has inspired the adoption of American constitutional norms across the world, including Eastern Europe. How has the U.S. constitutional crisis affected democratic norms in the relatively young democratic systems of Eastern Europe? This paper explores how the events on January 6th, 2021 in the United States have affected perceptions of democracy and electoral processes among politicians and democratic norms in Eastern Europe with a focus on Bulgaria.
