This paper will discuss how Boleslav Markevich fictionalizes the Russian idea, discussed by him and other major conservatives of the 1870s in The Moscow News, The Russian Messenger, and other periodicals. In particular, I will look at the reflections of these ideological discussions in his idealized images of the hero: Boris Troyekurov (The Turning Point, The Abyss) and the heroine: Lina Shastunova (A Quarter of a Century Ago) and Masha Troyekurova (The Abyss).
